We had a great day yesterday celebrating Jesus’ birth with our faith community at Eucharist, at the Liturgy of the Hours with extra singing in a chapel decorated with candles and pointsiettas galore and a lovely little creche (see photos below of daylight and night time scenes), then on to a fabulous feast prepared by friends of ours as their Christmas gift! After dinner we opened gifts we received from friends of ours and experienced once again God’s extravagant love through the outpouring of generosity of our benefactors. A glorious day!
But wait, the real Gift of Christmas, God–with-us is too much to be celebrated or grasped in one day, so the Church wisely gives us the Christmas Season (even better than an Octave or the 12 days of Christmas!) which extends to the Baptism of Jesus. To realize God loved us so much as to choose to become one of us, to be limited, to be imperfect – is that truly awesome or what?! So let’s enjoy singing our favorite Christmas carols for 10 more days. Merry Christmas Season!
